Charlene Therien is an award-winning artist who never seems to slow down. A busy wife and mother of 5 boys and a girl, in 2003 she began teaching art classes and writing how-to articles for websites and print magazines. Soon afterward Charlene began selling her art through regional craft shows and online venues, and founded the Central Illinois Polymer Clay Guild. She won blue ribbons at county fairs for her jewelry, and twice won the AMACO Designer Challenge. From 2004 to 2006 she gave weekly online classes that were free to the public. She maintains a YouTube channel, which carries some of her free how-to videos. In 2007 she began exhibiting at national trade shows in both the art and beauty industries. And from 2011 to 2013, she served on the board of directors for the International Polymer Clay Association. Her artwork has continued to flourish and her company spawned three divisions, which keep her from ever considering the possibility of being bored.
Charlene and her best friend, Allen, look forward to celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in 2014. Together they make their home in Peoria, Illinois, surrounded by their grown children and grandchildren.
